5 common physical symptoms of depression. The mental and emotional symptoms of depression, such as low mood, negative thoughts and intense emotions, are well real. However, many people also experience physical symptoms when they are depressed. If you or someone you know is experiencing one or more of the following symptoms, it could be a sign of depression: When we are depressed we feel it on the physical body. Our mind has left the present moment and when we do the body follows. If your stuck in the future where we live in fight or flight then your body thinks it is there. It is stress full and hard on the body.

1.Fatigue

Chronic tiredness and low energy levels are often the first physical symptoms people notice when they are depressed. Normal tiredness can usually be resolved by sleeping. Depression-related fatigue will often persist throughout the day, even after a full night’s sleep. Depression causes non-restorative sleep, which means that you will still feel exhausted, no matter how much sleep you get. Lack of restorative sleep can also lead to other problems, including irritability, clumsiness, lack of concentration and poor memory.

Unexplained Pain

Headaches, migraine, back pain and even toothache can all be caused or made worse by depression, particularly if your muscles are tense and you are unable to relax. Some people feel as if they are aching all over, while others experience mild to severe pain in specific areas of the body. To make matters worse, depression can also lower your tolerance to pain, meaning that even mild pain may be difficult to manage.

Digestive Problems

Depression can cause inflammation along the digestive tract, leading to a wide range of symptoms, including heartburn, excess stomach acid, bloating, nausea, stomach pain and constipation. In addition, depression and anxiety have been linked to irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and other problems related to the digestive system. Some people also find that food intolerances and sensitivity to certain chemicals in processed foods can be worsened by depression.

Vision Problems

Depression has been linked to problems with eyesight, including blurred vision, reduced night vision and a general worsening of vision. One study suggested that people with depression struggle to see the differences in shades of black and white (contrast perception). Eyesight problems related to depression are often temporary and will improve once the depression has been successfully treated, but you should always seek help if your vision is affected.

Allergies or Frequent Infections

Depression triggers inflammation in the body and lowers the immune system, making you more prone to infections and allergic responses. Depression can also aggravate existing conditions, such as hay fever, eczema, asthma and skin allergies. In addition, you may find it more difficult to fight off common infections and viruses.

The emotional symptoms of depression are well-known, but the physical symptoms are often overlooked. Common health problems, such as fatigue, unexplained pain, digestive problems, vision problems and allergies, could be signs of depression. Recognizing these symptoms and seeking professional help enables you to get treatment and advice as quickly as possible.
